A boyfriend got her girlfriend pregnant. The girl informed the boy about the pregnancy. The boy wasn’t happy at all. The worst part was the boy and his family demanded the girl to undergo paternity test to make sure that it’s the boy’s child. Is this situation familiar to you? It is to me and usually it happens to our young stars in Philippines like in the case of Jennylyn Mercado and Andi Eigenman. These girls camp were enraged when the boys’ camp asked for paternity test. I’m a girl…a woman and I totally understand the side of the girl. If it happens to me I’ll be infuriated too! Why do they need paternity test? It’s offensive for me because I can’t handle being called a liar of having it implied that I’ve been less than honest about the paternity of my child. For me, asking for paternity test on the baby is not only insulting, it screams ‘I DON’T TRUST YOU’! The boys and their family tried to convey to the fans the possibility that these girls are cheating or sleeping around. In this case there is a lack of trust and no future together.
For me, the issue of paternity will be raised only when the relationship of the couple itself is already questionable and fractured. So who really needs paternity testing and why? It is beneficial for women who had more than one partner in order to pinpoint who really is the father of the baby. Different reasons to establish paternity include the need to collect support financially or emotionally, or simply for the peace of mind that accompanies knowing for sure.
Having a child is a beautiful experience but when doubt enters the picture, it can cause stress in the life of yourself, your child and partner. This doubt can change the way you love and effect how you treat the people you love. It is hard to give 100% of yourself when you feel you have been duped! This can cause you to feel trapped and helpless at the same time.
